It's Halloween and this Election is getting Scary

Or maybe you're thinking this election has been pretty scary for quite a while!

The latest polls show the race tightening--Mr. Obama's numbers coming down slightly, Mr. McCain's coming up a bit, the difference diminishing. Yesterday some polls showed the difference between the two tickets within the margin of error, meaning the race is a dead heat.

No doubt it's getting scarier for those for Barak Obama and Joe Biden.

Those for John McCain are holding their breath, wondering if he and Sarah Palin can pull it out.

There's one thing few people reporting on this race have taken into consideration. There's one person the polls haven't polled. That would be God. When God's involved, there's an unpredictability because things can look like there's no way they'll turn out right--and yet when He steps in, He is the majority vote. It's that David versus Goliath thing.

On the other hand, when God is involved there's a definite predictability. He will see that what is right is done in the end. That doesn't mean wrong things can't happen--any sane person knows better. But it does mean that ultimately, God has His way.

So I keep saying, "When God is involved..." So is He? Is He involved in this U. S. election? Yep. How do I know? Because I've been asking Him to be in it all along. And I'm definitely not the only one! Many, many Christians talk to God daily and know that He hears, acts, and is involved in human history.

So whose side are you on?

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.

The Old Testament is full of examples of God letting people make foolish decisions. That is how Saul became king in the first place.

We obviously made that foolish decision in 2000.

Now with a real Christian President like Barack Obama lets hope God forgives us that indiscretion.

The appropriate title would also be Senator. We should respect them even as we do doctors or pastors instead of belittling them.

John Kerry would have been a foolish decision. Al Gore would have been a foolish decision. Barack Obama would be insanity multiplied.

I agree Dianne, God is in this Election. I see Him every day. I hear his voice when people speak, and there are HUGE numbers of people who are waiting for God's voice to vote. Many have already voted (as have I, due to the move) but the reality is, we express our best voice and hope for the best in any election.

While those campaigning may state their views, we never know if what they say is true, until they are tried and tested.

The solution is prayer.

To Don: You're right, God allows foolish decisions. Consequences are the result of those decisions. God doesn't provide those, but he does allow those too.

Blessings,

Jan

Amen, Dianne! I couldn't have said it better. In the natural, things looks bleak. BUT GOD...

Bottom line? He is our only hope. But that's true regardless of the political scene, isn't it? Christ in us, the hope of glory....

Keep praying, brothers and sisters! And remember, we've read the end of the Book...and we win!!!

These are both credible informative happenings that you'll want to know about and share, tell everyone! Prayer is working. Keep up the faith.

Things look bleak? Things look wonderful.

You're probably young, but Dianne is old enough to remember small country churches with messages of unity and love. The message of Jesus where everyone was welcome. Libertarian churches that respected people and different view points, that sought God in the Bible.

This is the message of Barack Obama. A message of unifying on our similarities, not dividing on our differences. Of caring about your neighbors, not the confrontational style and hate mongering of Ann Coulter and Shaun Hannity. Of helping the poor, not the lust for power in the halls of Washington. Of respecting differences of opinion, not a club of people regurgitating the same old falsehoods to prove your loyalty. Of honesty, not one of the most corrupt administrations we've ever seen.

Times are great. The message of love is being spread and we are once again coming together as a nation of God loving people.

Interestingly, Don, Jan and I are nearly the same age--almost twins.

I remember churches where truth was more important the oshy gooshy "love and unity" that overlooks sin to just make everybody feel loved, where everyone was welcome in order to bring them to Jesus on His terms.

I remember where people didn't have to be as confrontation as Ann Coulter and Shaun Hannity because most people were more in tune with the Truth and so confrontation wasn't necessary. But God bless those like Ann Coulter and Shaun Hannity who are willing to be confrontation so that the Truth doesn't get run over and ground to dust.

How in the world you can look at Barack Obama who sat under the teaching of Rev. Wright for twenty years and say his is a message of love and unitiy, caring, nonconfrontational, etc. is beyond me.

You seriously need to pray for discernment.

It looks like not everyone believes discernment is believing what Dianne does. In fact, it seems to be a rather minority opinion looking at the general election and ballot measures.

Hopefully we can put the era of Rove, Hannity and Coulter behind us. Fox is losing young people in droves as viewers move to the "chirpy lesbian liberal". Meanness and divisiveness is out and working in unity is in. Smearing people will be around but is no longer a winner.

How gullible do you have to be to believe that someone with the accomplished career of Reverend Wright did nothing but preach hate from the pulpit. Nothing like taking 20 seconds of video and disparaging a life.

I know change is difficult for people who lust for control. But after 8 years of one of the worst presidents in history the future now looks quite a bit brighter.

The fact that "Meanness and divisiveness is out and working in unity is in" shows clearly in your insults toward me, Don. The minority opinion isn't minority by much. 57 million people voted "no" on Obama.

I have no idea who your "chirpy lesbian liberal" is, but Rove, Hannity and Coulter are not the ones who smear.

Is Rev. Wright not responsible for those words he spoke on what you call 20 seconds of video? Of course he is. That tells us alot about him...and those who attended his church (and were cheering in the pews).

Insults towards you? For calling you gullible? There's nothing like the victim card, is there?

20 seconds of video doesn't tell you anything about his overall life. Wright was angry and talking about US policies in the middle east that have killed millions of innocent civilians. I have lived in the middle east, I have seen the results of US arrogance. I have not seen what Reverend Wright has seen, running an inner city church and helping addicts, homeless people, and the starving. Nor am I black and been treated like he has. I think I'll allow him an extra bit of tolerance if he gets angry at injustice.

Pat Robertson, while interviewing the author of a book critical of the department on his program, gushed, "When you get through, you say, 'If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer.' I mean, you get through this, and you say, 'We've got to blow that thing up.'"

Of course, Pat is white.

If you like Ann that's fine. Let's just be honest as to who she is. To say she doesn't smear people is just untrue.

"If you don't hate Clinton and the people who labored to keep him in office, you don't love your country."
"I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote." (Condoleezza Rice's father was required to guess the number of beans in a jar to get to register. The poll tax wasn't repealed until the mid 60's.)

To a disabled Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war."
The "backbone of the Democratic Party" is a "typical fat, implacable welfare recipient"

The best of high satire.

Dianne,
Truth will eventually show itself. Our task now is to be alert and pray. That is a huge responsibility.
